WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE

ITINERARY

DAY 1

DAY 1: ARRIVE in ROVANIEMI

Overnight in ROVANIEMI
  • Welcome to Finland – the Land of a thousand lakes.
  • Arrival to Rovaniemi, the capital of the Finnish Lapland. Lapland is as close as reality gets to those who dream of a winter wonderland. Contrasts are a key factor in the allure of Lapland where 24-hour sunlight in the summer replaces the dark winter days. The hustle and bustle of towns and ski resorts is just minutes away from the peace and quiet of the wild wilderness.
  • Meet our ROV Local Representative and Private transfer to the hotel.
  • Check in to your hotel and relax a bit. Later meet your fellow Voyagers and get ready for welcome Hot Drinks.

DAY 2: SANTA'S VILLAGE - THE REINDEER SLEIGH RIDE - NORTHERN LIGHTS PICNIC

  •  Breakfast in the hotel.
  • Start the day with immediately immersing you into the magic of Lapland. First stop today is the Santa Claus Village located on the Arctic Circle. You will participate in the traditional ceremony of crossing the Arctic Circle and receive a diploma certifying your visit.
  • After the ceremony, free time for you to explore the village and meet the local star, the Santa Claus, in his official home. Free time for lunch.
  • You can also visit Santa’s post office to send a letter to yourself or a loved one, with the official stamp of Santa. Wander around the various souvenir shops and enjoy the magic atmosphere in the village. End of the day you will experience a reindeer sleigh ride at the Santa Claus Village and enjoy a hot drink around the fire.
  • At night if heaven permits we will go for Aurora Borealis Picnic by bus for 3 hours and if not according to the forecast we will go next day.
  • Transfer back to your hotel  and enjoy your Dinner

DAY 3: HUSKIES & THE POLAR ZOO OF RANUA

  • Breakfast in the hotel.
  • Our first stop today is a Husky Farm, where you will learn all you need to know about huskies and their way of living. After the introduction and a short show, take the opportunity to get a ride on a mini husky safari with a musher. After the ride, you will have some time to meet and photograph these beautiful dogs and ask all the questions you may have regarding this business & sport.
  • Free time for lunch
  • Our next visit is to the northernmost zoo in the world – Ranua. Your guide will take you on a brisk walk outdoors to admire the Arctic wildlife in their genuine wilderness setting. Elk, reindeer, wolverines, arctic fox and of course the impressive polar bear can be found in this Zoo.
  • Little free time for food lovers to discover the shop of the famous Finnish Fazer chocolates.
  • Return to your hotel and enjoy your dinner.

DAY 4: ROVANIEMI - SNOWMOBILE SAFARI - THE NIGHT IN A GLASS IGLOO

  • Breakfast in the hotel.
  • Free day to enjoy Rovaniemi and its surroundings as you desire!  Enjoy one of the many activities offered in the area. You can go shopping in town, or take a walk along the banks of the Ounasjoki River, to enjoy the winter landscapes of Lapland. Do not hesitate to ask your ROV Tour Leader for an advice, he is there to make sure you enjoy Lapland to the fullest.
  • Free time for lunch and after lunch Snowmobile Safari for 2 hours.
  • Afternoon transfer for your magical stay under the starry skies in your heated 1st class GLASS IGLOO.
  • Dinner and night in glass igloo and if heaven permits, you will have a first-class seat from your warm bed to witness the magnificent Northern Lights
DAY 4

DAY 5: Farewell and Good Bye

  • Voyagers it’s the end of the road for your Winter Wonderland adventure and time to say Good Bye and make your way to the International Airport from where you’ll catch your flight back to your home destination or you can extend your journey by visiting Helsinki or Tallinn for another 3 days Tour.

Practical Information

Please remember to bring:

  • . Hiking boots or very sturdy footwear, warm outdoor layers, weatherproof top layer, headwear, gloves, and scarves. There is no such thing as too many layers on a northern lights tour! A tripod for your camera is very useful too.
  • Bring your Driving License with you for the Snow Mobiling Tour
