Practical Information

Please remember to bring:

  • Hiking boots or very sturdy footwear, warm outdoor layers, weatherproof top layer, headwear, gloves, and scarves. There is no such thing as too many layers on a northern lights tour! A tripod for your camera is very useful too.
  • Bring your Driving License with you for the Snow Mobiling Tour.

ITINERARY

Day1

DAY 1: Reykjavik - Chasing Northern Lights

Overnight in Reykjavik

  • Arrive at Keflavík International Airport by 2-4 Pm and use a ticket given to you in advance to reach your hotel which is in the city centre. After check-in, rest a bit and get ready for an amazing welcome drink and early dinner hosted by Republic Of Voyages in an Icelandic Gastro-pub.
  • At 20:30 we will be ready for an exciting hunt for the Northern Lights. We follow the aurora and cloud forecasts to optimal locations giving you the best chance of seeing the radiant colours of the northern lights in our 4 hrs guided tour. Witnessing the northern lights is an unforgettable experience bringing some extraordinary photo opportunities.

DAY 2: Southcoast Waterfalls - Glacier - Volcano

  • Early Breakfast and you will be driven through the scenic countryside to visit the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, views of iconic volcanoes. Travelling onwards through stunning scenery you will arrive at Sólheimajökull glacier.  Next up is the black sand beach at Reynisfjara to see the dramatic basalt columns and cave, the Reynisdrangar cliffs and the basalt rock stacks that rise above the Atlantic waves. Finally, you will come to the majestic Skógafoss waterfall.
  • This is volcano country, on a clear day, you will get views of Eyjafjallajökull, Hekla and even the volcanoes around the Westman Islands, just off the coast before we get dropped off at your hotel in Reykjavík at around 19:00 pm

DAY 3: Golden Circle and the Blue Lagoon

  • After Breakfast, from Reykjavik, you will be driven towards Iceland’s three most famous attractions that make up the popular Golden Circle. Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park, Geysir hot spring area and Gullfoss waterfall. Golden Circle takes you from Reykjavik one way, and after visiting the sites, another way back to the city, making it into a 300 km circle.
  • Our next stop world-famous Blue Lagoon: a magnificent geothermal wonder that is the world’s finest naturally occurring spa. Its milky-blue waters are incredibly rich in nutrients and heated by subterranean lava flows to an ideal temperature for bathing.

DAY 4: Snowmobiling On Langjokull Glacier - Northern Lights - II

  • Breakfast, Your snowmobiling adventure starts in Reykjavik where you will be picked up by one of our expert snowmobile guides. Our journey continues towards Langjökull, Europe’s second largest glacier and the home of our base camp. Riding the super jeep on a glacier is a fun and exciting experience in itself. Once you reach our base camp our guides will help you gear up for an exciting 1-hour snowmobile ride. Langjökull Glacier is home to several enormous ice-filled volcanic craters, rimmed in by imposing volcanoes and set in the breathtaking Icelandic interior.
  • In the evening after an early dinner, we will be ready again for an exciting hunt for the Northern Lights. We follow the best Aurora and cloud forecast available to optimize your chance of seeing the Northern Lights dancing their vibrant colours across the night sky. We could go to Hvalfjörður, Þingvellir, Reykjanes or somewhere else away from the city lights.

DAY 5: Good Bye or You can Extend

  • Voyagers its time to say Good Bye to our Magical Northern Lights Tour and shared transfer to the Keflavík International Airport from where you’ll catch your flight back to your home destination.
  • Feel free to ask us if you want to arrange to delay your return to reality after this magical experience and add 2 nights to discover Greenland, Winter is, unsurprisingly, a great time to go dog-sledding and also the best time to visit to catch the beautiful Northern Lights, which along with the blankets of snow and bright moonlight, make the evenings actually a lot brighter than you would expect.
